KEVIN RANCIK
The Reign

RELEASED APRIL 13, 2004
Originally
intended for release in the mid to early summer of 2003, The Reign was
delayed a number of times for any number of reasons - including but not
limited to Rancik's determination in perfecting
this album to the best of his ability. Work on this release began even before
the debut album Lost was released. From the start, Rancik knew he
wanted an album that differed from Lost yet still held elements of the
style he'd set forth on that album. The first material that was written,
however, while slightly different from that on Lost, essentially
sounded like tracks from an album that could have been called Lost, Volume
II. It was clear that this second album would take much more time and
effort than expected.
Nearly a year after the
original planned release of May 2003, The Reign was released in
mid-April 2004. The wait for it was well worth it though. Featuring a clear
theme, much improved continuity, and much stronger compositions overall, The
Reign could easily prove to be one of Rancik's
best works over time. The album is definitely a step in a different direction
from the one taken on Lost. The first single from the album, Courtyard,
was released on March 19, 2004 - and quickly drew praise.
The second single from
the album, The Visions, was released on April 25, 2004. The third, Broken
Rose, was released on July 13, 2004. Broken Rose, just over 24
hours after its release had already received a good review and thumbs-up
votes on websites it was released at.
