	12-14-2003 MP3.COM HAS SHUT DOWN MP3.com, the site where Kevin Rancik and Protest of Reality CDs were available for purchase, has been bought out by CNET.com. Early in 2004, CNET is launching a service at music.download.com. What this new service will entail has yet to be seen. Rancik is looking at different options for merchandising his material - expect something in early 2004 with the new album! SOMETHING NEW IS ON ITS WAY... TAKE HEED...DON'T LOOK AWAY... The new Kevin Rancik album should be out in early 2004 - only a few more months of waiting for the follow-up to Lost! Right now about a quarter of the album is finished...and there is very little work left to do with those remaining three quarters...
12.01.2003	MP3.COM IS SHUTTING DOWN As of tomorrow, MP3.com will no longer exist, or at least not in its current form. This means that Kevin Rancik and Protest of Reality merchandise will no longer be available online. SO BUY YOUR CD COPIES TONIGHT!!! At some point early next year (2004), music.download.com is apparently going to take over the functions of what is now MP3.com. Or so it seems. It remains to be seen what that ends up being like...but either way it means that for a good amount of time, the Kevin Rancik and Protest of Reality CDs will not be available. From right now until MP3.com dies, all three CDs will be available for $7.98, the lowest price they're allowed to be sold at! In addition, every track from Lost is now available for preview and all tracks on the front page are open to free downloads! In more pleasant news, work on the second full-length Kevin Rancik piano album continues. Slowly but surely, it is making its way toward completion...watch for that in the first half of 2004!
11.20.2003	Rancik is continuing to work on the second piano album. The tracks have entered the editing stages and will be recorded after this process is finished! Have patience - expect the brilliant follow-up to Lost (and a new website) to appear sometime in early 2004...
08.10.2003	Today at around 1 PM Kevin Rancik performed at the San Diego Music Studio coffeehouse recital. It was held at the Mocha Marketplace in San Marcos, and Rancik performed the brand new pieces Courtyard and Broken Rose to a small but receptive audience. The album Lost is now available again at MP3.com with fixed cover artwork! Buy a copy - it's only $8.99!
08.07.2003	All of the material expected to be used for the second Kevin Rancik piano album has been composed! The recording process has begun, however, it will be quite some time before this is finished. Rancik hopes the CD will be out sometime in 2004! The download options for all tracks available at MP3.com have been removed except for those of Drifting in Water. The other tracks can still be "streamed," though. Because of the time and effort required in keeping on top of Kevin Rancik's MP3.com chart standings, the charts part of this website will no longer be updated. For about a week, the album Lost will not be available at MP3.com. There were minor problems with the cover art that have been corrected with the upcoming update. It will still be available for $8.99, and listeners will be able to preview more tracks on the MP3.com CD page than they previously were. The second album for Kevin Rancik's side project Protest of Reality is now available at the Protest of Reality MP3.com site for $7.98!!! Entitled Trash Truck, the release features rerecorded and rewritten versions of Beauty in Apathy outtakes, some brand new material, and remastered versions of original Protest of Reality work back from when the project first began in the year 2000! The current debut album Beauty in Apathy is still available at the site for $7.98 as well!

07.17.2003	The tracks Danger, Place of Rest, and Exposed are now available as free downloads at MP3.com, as is Drifting in Water. Another on-line radio station at MP3.com is featuring Kevin Rancik's music! The Hidden Radio Archive is currently featuring the track Danger! 07.14.2003	Work on the debut album for Kevin's Protest of Reality side project is FINISHED!!! More news will appear here as it's available. The price for the Kevin Rancik album Lost has gone down again! At the San Diego Music Studio, the last of the original copies are now selling for only $5.00 and online at MP3.com, the price for the new version of the CD is only $8.99! Get your copy today!!! In the next day or two, the piece Drifting in Water, performed at a number of recitals (both by Kevin Rancik and other artists), will be available as a FREE DOWNLOAD at MP3.com! 06.30.2003	Three on-line radio stations at MP3.com are now featuring Kevin Rancik tracks! The_EZ_Listening_Booth is currently playing "Exposed" Radnimax_Mellow 3 is currently playing "Place of Rest" A_Nice_Neat_Pile is currently playing "Drifting in Water" In addition, the non-MP3.com on-line station Hidden Radio is featuring Kevin Rancik as their spotlight artist for the week of June 28 to July 5!!! They are currently playing the "Danger." The track "Drifting in Water" is also this week's promotional classical track on the MP3.com messenger. Work on the debut album from Kevin's side project Protest of Reality is finishing up. The CD should appear on MP3.com before August, and a website will be launched sometime in the next few weeks. 06.21.2003	The price of the album Lost has gone down from $10.99 to $9.99!!! Today's MP3.com chart standings are available in the media section. A scrolling news ticker has been added to the frontpage.
06.17.2003	Kevin's music has made it to the charts of MP3.com!!!! In San Marcos, Kevin is at #19 with Place of Rest and #20 with Drifting in Water! *On MP3.com's classical charts for San Marcos, Kevin tops the charts with Place of Rest* at #1 and Drifting in Water at #2!!!!** Also to be noted are Danger at #68 (#7 on the classical charts) and Exposed at #70 (#8 on the classical charts)!

06.09.2003	Kevin is working on a side-project called Protest of Reality. Work on the first CD should near completion soon. At the same time, he is continuing work on the second Kevin Rancik CD.

04.06.2003	On Sunday, April 6^th at 12 NOON Kevin performed in part of a formal recital at the Piano and Organ Warehouse in San Marcos. The event was sponsored by the San Diego Music Studio and featured a large number of other students from the studio. Kevin played a Prelude by Kabalevsky and the new piece "Melancholy Melody," which is scheduled to appear on his upcoming new album.

10.18.2002	The biography and samples from "Lost" are now on-line. The samples have since been removed but some full-length tracks are now available for listening on MP3.com.
09.15.2002	Kevin announces that ever since he finished writing the bulk of the material for "Lost" a few months ago, he's been composing new pieces every once in awhile that will be considered for placement on his second album. Aside from the fact he has written 7 new pieces, no information regarding the new album has been released at this point other than that Kevin is, for the most part, pleased with the results so far.
08.25.2002	Kevin's second public appearance is held at the Mocha Marketplace in San Marcos. The event is sponsored and held by the San Diego Music Studio and numerous other performers appear as well. Kevin performs 5 pieces. More details can be read in the appearances section.
08.24.2002	The release party celebrating the release of "Lost" is held at the house of one of Kevin's friends. A number of people are in attendance and Kevin performs a brand new piece called "Fire." More details can be read in the appearances section.
08.20.2002	"LOST" IS RELEASED!!!
08.09.2002	The poster for advertising the album "Lost" is released.
07.25.2002	The release of "Lost" gets scheduled for sometime during August.
06.30.2002	The release of "Lost" gets delayed until August in order to make improvements and additions to the album.
06.24.2002	Kevin has chosen to self-release "Lost." Current plans call for the album to cost $10.00 and it may be available as soon as July.
06.23.2002	The album has been finished and is titled "Lost." It will feature 18 tracks. Kevin will begin talks with his label regarding its official release shortly.
06.06.2002	Album update: Still no title, but 17 pieces have been recorded and the front and back cover designs have been finished.
05.03.2002	The Kevin Rancik website is launched (it has since been re-launched here at kevinrancik.com). At this time, 25 pieces for the debut album have been written and 4 have been recorded in their final forms.
04.07.2002	The piece "Drifting in Water," expected to appear on the upcoming album, is performed at a formal recital at a local Piano and Organ Warehouse. The piece is well-received, and requests are made that it be recorded and put on a CD. More details can be read in the appearances section.
12.25.2001	The eight-track, less-than-half-hour-long promotional CD "Out of Nothing" is self-released. Serious work begins on preparing the upcoming full-length album.
